Between tones and textures, a new interpretation of the essential.

The interior design project took as its starting point the aesthetic already established upon delivery of the flat: wooden flooring, cement-like texture and ceramic brick walls define the neutral and understated base of the spaces.

The proposal consisted of composing a new interpretation over this base, balancing cool and warm tones in the choice of fabrics, furniture and bespoke joinery elements.

The layout was designed according to the client’s routine, who values moments of hosting, as well as integrating the interior with the external view provided by the property.

A continuous line that becomes form.

The Rubrica Chair begins with a simple gesture: drawing a line that runs through the entire structure and supports the object with clarity and precision. The steel structure establishes rhythm and proportion.

The fabric, stretched over it, reveals the outline and adjusts the shape to the body.

Between the two, there is no hierarchy, but a mutual dependence that organises the piece as a single system.

At first glance, the design suggests a continuity that is not always fully exposed.

The frame runs through the chair from end to end, although part of it remains hidden.

The form is completed in perception, in the exercise of imagining what supports what is seen.

The fabric covering follows this logic in use as well. Fastened by an exposed zip, it can be removed for cleaning or replacement, allowing the piece to adapt to different contexts over time.

The zip, shifted from the discreet place it would normally occupy, becomes part of the design, a functional element that also provokes, suggesting the possibility of opening, disassembly and reading the internal structure.

The cushion introduces an additional layer of comfort and density. Its volume reinforces the silhouette of the seat and creates a subtle variation within the whole, maintaining the continuity of the design whilst at the same time marking a perceptible difference.

Designed for everyday life, Rubrica combines construction precision and flexibility of use.

The combination of steel and fabric, together with the possibility of customisation within a controlled palette, allows the piece to fit into different environments without losing its identity.

At the meeting point between structure, surface and gesture, the chair establishes itself as a design that reveals itself little by little, as it is observed, used and understood.
